Tweetgest’s goal is to “make the crowd easier to follow”. Twitter is an amazing tool, it allows you to take part in global conversations either directly or passively. Entire communities interact on a daily basis on Twitter, and yet getting yourself into a position where you know who to follow and have the time to sift through all the tweets to find the really interesting stuff can be hard.

Twitter works best for power users. But not all of us can be power users. This is where Tweetgest comes into play. The name “Tweetgest” means a “digest of tweets”. Each “gest” in Tweetgest will follow a specific community and forward on to you only the most interesting content over a certain period. Each gest will also archive everything it finds. So if you’re in a rush and just want the best bits of the day then read the email. But if you have more time spare then click the link at the bottom of the email and enjoy the rest of the archived content.

If you want to get the best out of Twitter but don’t know where to start or don’t have the time to invest, then Tweetgest is for you.

Right now Tweetgest only has one gest: “Frontend Top 100”. This gest follows the frontend web development community. I picked this as the first gest as I’m a part of this community and so have been able to use myself for user feedback. Over the coming months I’ll be creating more gests covering other topics.

About me

My name is Tom Maslen and I’m the sole person behind Tweetgest. This is my side project that I’m using to allow me to keep learning as a developer. I recently made the hop into management and so don’t get to code on a daily basis anymore (my co-workers will probably tell you that this is a good thing). Hopefully Tweetgest will be a useful service for people as well as allowing me to keep learning in my spare time.

This blog will mostly be about web development. I’ll be posting about how I get on being a one man development team, working with technology like AWS, NodeJS and Docker.
